7 Games Like GTA 6 for Android to Play While You Wait (2026)
Can’t wait for GTA 6 (19 November 2026) — or can’t afford a PS5? These are the best games like GTA 6 for Android: open-world crime, driving, and chaos on your phone, free or cheap, while you wait.
1. GTA Mzansi — The South African GTA
The obvious #1 for this site’s readers: a fan-made GTA mod set in South Africa — townships, minibus taxis, kwaito and amapiano on the radio, kasi missions. Free, offline, and made for Mzansi gamers. Download GTA Mzansi v4.0.7 (APK + OBB).
2. GTA: San Andreas (Official Mobile Port)
Rockstar’s own Android port of the classic. The real San Andreas, remastered controls, cloud saves. Paid — but it’s the genuine article and the closest thing to a full GTA on mobile.
3. GTA: Vice City (Official Mobile Port)
The closest you’ll get to GTA 6’s setting on a phone — the original Vice City, officially ported. If the neon and the 80s vibe are what you’re craving, start here.
4. Gangstar Vegas
Gameloft’s open-world crime series — steal cars, run missions, explore a Vegas-style city. Free with in-app purchases; the closest ‘GTA clone’ formula on mobile.
5. MadOut2 BigCityOnline
Open-world driving chaos with multiplayer — steal cars, race, and cause mayhem with real players online. Rough edges, but the multiplayer itch no other mobile GTA-like scratches.
6. Real Gangster Crime
A free, lightweight open-world gangster game — missions, car theft, police chases. Less polished than the big names, but free and fun in short sessions.
7. GTA: Liberty City Stories (Mobile Port)
Another official Rockstar mobile port — the Liberty City story, often overlooked, and cheaper than the headliners during sales.

How We Ranked These 7 Games
Three things decided the order: how close the gameplay feels to GTA (open world, driving, missions — not just a city backdrop), whether it actually runs well on mid-range South African phones, and what it costs in rands and data. A free game that needs 4 GB of downloads and a flagship phone didn’t outrank a paid classic that runs on anything. GTA Mzansi tops the list because it’s the only one built for South African players — local streets, local music, local humor — and it costs nothing.
Will GTA 6 Ever Come to Mobile?
Short answer: don’t hold your breath. Rockstar has never released a flagship GTA on mobile at launch — the mobile ports of San Andreas and Vice City arrived years after their console releases, and those were PS2-era games. GTA 6 is built for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S hardware; a phone port would be a multi-year project if it ever happens. The realistic mobile path is cloud gaming — if GTA 6 lands on a service like Xbox Cloud Gaming, you’ll be able to stream it to your phone. Until then, the games above are the closest you’ll get on Android.
